Zero Waste at Home & On the Go
Doing your best to reduce your ecological footprint? Here are our tips on how to reduce waste not just at home but also when out & about.
Why Zero Waste?
Because there’s no planet B. We’re a family business at Bamboolik, we all have kids and as all parents, we want the best future for our children. Which doesn’t involve dealing with an ecological catastrophe. We believe that every small step towards sustainability counts - when a lot of people make one little change in their lifestyles, the final impact will be remarkable!
→ Did you know that …..
If you still use diapers for your children, the biggest step towards sustainability you can take is switching to cloth diapers and ditching disposables. This single step will save the planet about 1.5 tons of non-biodegradable waste.

Ditch Disposables, Switch to Reusables
Have you ever thought about how many items you use just once and then get rid of them? It’s not just disposable diapers — just think about all the wet wipes, period products, cleansing pads, plastic bags, nursing pads for breastfeeding mums and many more. Switching to reusable alternatives of these products is quite effortless and the switch won’t affect your lifestyle. Here’s what we recommend for an eco-friendly home at Bamboolik:

More Zero Waste Tips
-
Get yourself a water bottle and carry it around wherever you go. No need to buy (and throw away) more and more plastic bottles.
- Same goes for coffee addicts - a reusable coffee cup of good design won’t even spill when thrown in you bag.
- Plastic straws are forbidden in a lot of countries now. That’s good news. Unfortunately, most restaurants and cafés have switched to paper straws instead. And those get soggy in your drink only after a few sips. Get yourself a stainless steel straw or a bamboo straw, carry it around (it weighs literally nothing) and don’t ever get disappointed when your straw turns into paper mache before you finish your drink.
- Your own shopping bag is also a great idea. Get a large cloth tote or a practical net bag that can hold a week’s shopping and its handles never tear off.
- If you want to practice a true Zero Waste lifestyle, find a Zero Waste grocery shop near you and frequent it. A lot of drugstores also offer refills for soaps, detergents and other household drugstore necessities.
Remember: Every step toward sustainability counts!
